Work on Wayil Bailey Bridge going on, will be completed before deadline: Xen R&B

Much to the relief of the people, the authorities have geared up the work on vital bridge over nallah Sindh near Wayil in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), executive engineer R&B Ganderbal, Tatheer said that the bridge will likely be thrown open for traffic by the end of this year.

He said that two lane bridge has been approved at the cost of Rs 22 crore funded by World Bank.

He added that the span of the bridge is 110 meters and width is 10.50 meters besides, length of approach roads is 330 meters.

R&B Xen, along with AEE and other officials Saturday visited the spot to take stock of the work going on at the bridge.

He further said due to shortage of material the work of bailey bridge was going slowly and he assured bridge will be open by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, locals said that tourists use this bridge to visit several famous tourist and pilgrimage destinations including Sonamarg, Naranag and Amarnath Shrine situated in different areas of the district—(KNO)
