Delay in Recruitment Process: Assistant Registrar, Junior Assistant aspirants demand ‘answers’ from KU authorities

In view of the alleged reports that said that the recruitment process for the posts of Assistant Registrar and Junior Assistant at University of Kashmir (KU) has been ‘quashed by Raj Bhawan’ following the allegations of some fraudulent activities, a dilemma has gripped among the aspirants for the these vacancies.

The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has learnt that the posts were advertised in 2019 but were not filled up within the stipulated time of two years as per the university’s own recruitment rules.

“In 2021, the then Vice Chancellor Talat Ahmad has extended six months to the validity of the lapsed posts, the aspirants said. However the recruitment process which includes final recruitment couldn’t be completed even during these six months,” they added.

The aspirants said, “When the new VC, Dr Neelofar took charge of the university; she decided to refer the matter to the Chancellor with full case history of both the recruitment processes for a final decision in the matter.”

“The file was sent to Raj Bhawan last month but the final decision is awaited,” said a KU official in the recruitment Section. He said no further direction or correspondence has been made by the Chancellor’s office with the University.

Many aspirants however said they have been told by some university officials unofficially that “these posts are being re-advertised because the recruitment process has been reportedly quashed by the Chancellor’s office after serious allegations of fraud were inquired into and found to be prima-facie true".

“We want to know the final decision. We will apply for some other posts if the recruitment process has been declared null and void,” said a group of aspirants for posts of Assistant Registrar.

In the meantime, the KU officials told KNO that they have submitted a note to Raj Bhawan regarding the recruitment process.

“We are yet to be conveyed anything by Raj Bhawan Office,” the official said—(KNO)
