COVID-19 claims two lives, 823 test positive in J&K



'Srinagar registers spike of 212 cases'

Jammu and Kashmir Friday reported 823 fresh cases of Covid-19, pushing the number of active cases to 5,133 while two more deaths were reported in the UT in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 4,776.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 823 new cases, 633 belong to Kashmir division while as 190 to Jammu division.

He said that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached to 295,962 including 289,825 recoveries and 2,430 deaths, while total number of positive cases in Jammu division reached to 172,283 including 168,511 recoveries and 2,346 deaths.

He further said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,133 including 3,706 from Kashmir division and 1,426 from Jammu division.

With 679 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in J&K has reached to 458,336, which is 97.88 percent of the total cases.

“Among the fresh 823 cases today, 212 are from Srinagar, 159 from Baramulla, 83 from Budgam, 12 from Pulwama 41 from Kupwara, 48 from Anantnag, 37 from Bandipora, 09 from Ganderbal, 31 from Kulgam and 01 from Shopian in Kashmir division while 190 are from Jammu division that include 118 from Jammu district, 03 from Udhampur, 08 from Rajouri, 11 from Doda, 06 from Kathua , 08 from Samba, 17 from Kishtwar, 07 from Poonch, 12 from Ramban and 00 from Reasi,” said the official.

As per the daily information bulletin 6,698,908 persons in J&K are under observation while 139 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides 5,133 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 6,688,546 persons have completed the surveillance period and 314 persons are under home surveillance besides so far results of 26,196,556 samples are available.

“Out of 26,196,556 the number of samples tested negative stands at 25,728,311 while 468,245 have tested positive, among them 5,133 cases are active, 458,336 have recovered and 4,776 persons have died,” it added—(KNO)
