Kupwara Admin makes wearing of face masks mandatory in public places



Authorities in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday made wearing of face masks mandatory at all public places across the district in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases.


“It has become imperative to ensure implementation & observance of all preventive measures such as 100% usage of face masks and maintenance of social distance in all public places across the district to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection,” said Deputy Commissioner Kupwara. 

“In view of the above and in order to safeguard public health & well being, I Khalid Jahangir, Chairman District Disaster Management Authority/ District Magistrate Kupwara, in exercise of powers vested in me under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, do hereby order that use of face masks shall be compulsory at all public places in the district with immediate effect till further,” reads an order issued by DC Kupwara. 

"All Tehsildars/BDOs/SHOs shall ensure the usage of face masks in their respective jurisdictions. Further all District/Sectoral officers shall ensure 100% usage of face masks in the offices working under their control, " the order reads. 

"All the directions shall be ensured on war footing basis and in case any non-compliance is surfaced, action/penalty as per the provisions of Disaster Management Act 2005 shall be initiated against the defaulters," the order further reads.

Earlier, authorities in Bandipora, Srinagar and Ganderbal districts had also made wearing of face masks mandatory at public places and government offices in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases—(KNO)
