Youth can make their future in sports: Chain Singh
A shooter from Doda district has brought home laurels by winning silver medal in shooting in International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup in South Korea.
Chain Singh a resident of Chanser village in Gandoh Tehsil of Doda represented India in the World Cup and managed to bag the silver medal.
Chain Singh told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that he was inclined towards shooting since childhood and started taking part in shooting events at different stages.
Chain claims that he has won dozens of medals in shooting at state, national and international level.
“Since 2015, I have won gold medals for four consecutive years along with other medals and in 2019 I bagged two silver medals in the National Shooting Championship Competition,” he said.
Singh said that he has participated in 31st Olympic Games, 13th SAF games, 14th Asian Shooting Championship, ISSF world Cup, Commonwealth Games, world shooting championship and has won seven gold medals besides other medals in shooting competitions.
“I am very happy to win this medal and am trying to work hard and further excel and perform well at the international stage,” he added.
On being asked about sports infrastructure in J&K, he said, “J&K as of now lacks infrastructure and we have only some small stadiums available for cricket only.”
He said that with implementation of sports policy in J&K, better sports infrastructure will be developed here and youth can make their career in this field easily.
“To achieve any goal in life, hard work and consistency is a must and youth of J&K are very much talented and are performing well wherever they are getting opportunity,” he added—(KNO)
