A newborn baby who was found on Wednesday found at Nallah Hud at Kralpora in north Kashmir's Kupwara district died this late afternoon at Handwara Hospital despite sincere attempts from doctors to save the precious life.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kralpora Dr. Javaid Iqbal told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the newborn baby was brought to Sub District Hospital this morning.
He said that the senior doctor along with the medical team attended to the baby. “First aid treatment required was given to the baby. The baby was stabilized,” he said.
Later, the BMO said that the baby was referred to District Hospital Handwara for further required treatment.
News agency—KNO has learnt that the baby was found at Hud Nallah in Karlapora. The baby was spotted by locals who informed the police and moved him to SDH Kralpora for medical attention.
Meanwhile, a senior health official at District Hospital Handwara said that the baby was undergoing treatment. “The baby was admitted to the hospital for required treatment. A police team along with the team of Child Welfare Kupwara were also present at the Hospital,” he said.
The official said that the baby had hyperthermia. "The body temperature goes down in this medical condition."
The official also said that the baby was in the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCUS) throughout the day. “Doctors made every sincere attempt to save the precious life of the baby but couldn't save it.”
Ultimately, the official said that the baby passed away.
