Ladakh administration seeks suggestions from public

The administration of Ladakh Union Territory on Tuesday sought suggestions from the general public on recommendations made by a three-member committee over proposing its state tree and state flower.

In a notice, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the administration said that a three-member committee has recommended Juniper polypros (Ladakhi-Shuk-Pa) and Meconopsis aculeata (Himalayan blue poppy/ Ladakhi Tser-sNon) as state tree and state flower respectively.

The three-member committee was headed by Director, Sowa Rigpa.

According to the notice, suggestions, if any, can be sent to administration within a period of thirty days.

“Suggestions may be sent by email at cwlwladakh@gmail.com or by post to the below mentioned address: Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest/ Chief Wildlife Warden, 2nd floor, Wildlife Building, Near Civil Secretariat,” reads the notice.

In September 2021, Ladakh adopted snow leopard and black-necked crane, as State animal and State bird, two years after it was carved out as a separate Union Territory (UT) from the erstwhile State of J&K—(KNO)
