Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) and AEs of Rural Engineering Wing (REW), Kupwara on Tuesday resumed work after their matter with Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Dr Doifode Sagar Dattatray was “amicably” resolved.
The engineers had on Monday decided to go for an indefinite strike after the alleged harassment and humiliation by the DC.
A top official in the administration told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the matter was amicably resolved with the engineering wing of the REW department during a cordial meeting.
An official of the REW department while confirming the development said they are back to work after the issues with DC were resolved. During the meeting, all the work-related pressures were discussed, he said.
The engineers’ delegation led by Xen Roads and Buildings (R&B) department, Mohammed Ramzan Sofi, apprised the Deputy Commissioner of the difficulties faced by them in the field, he said, adding that the DC gave a patient hearing to the problems being faced by the engineers.
The engineering wing appreciated the leadership qualities of the DDC Kupwara who they said was “always with us in all circumstances”. They thanked the timely intervention of CEGA president Er Nasir Amin in resolving the issues.
On Monday, the AEEs and AEs alleged the harassment and humiliation by the DC Kupwara during a progress review meeting and had written to the Executive Engineer REW stating that they will go on strike till the matter is not resolved—(KNO)
