Woman charred to death in house blaze at Bandipora's Taki Shah

DC visits affected family, provides cash assistance

A 35-year-old woman was charred to death in an overnight blaze at Taki Shah village of Bandipora district, officials said on Saturday.

They told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the woman identified as Naseema Begum wife of Fayaz Ahmad Khan, a resident of Taki Shah village was charred to death in an overnight fire that the fire broke out in her house and she got trapped in the fire and couldn't be rescued.

The structure along with household items was completely gutted in the blaze, they said.

A police official while confirming the incident said that the cause of fire is being ascertained but apparently seems to have been caused by an electric short circuit.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed visited the affected family and expressed grief over the fire incident. He extended sympathies with the family.

The DDC member Arin apprised the DC about the condition and post fire situation faced by the affected family.

The DC provided an immediate relief of Rs 70,000 to the family and also provided blankets, utensils and other essentials to the family for their temporary rehabilitation.

He also assured every possible support from District Administration to the fire victims—(KNO)
