The School Education Department (SED) on Wednesday assigned the "look-after" charges to the five principals and posted them as the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to fill the vacant positions in the Kashmir division.
The order to this effect was issued by Principal Secretary SED, Alok Kumar days after news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reported that five out of 10 positions of CEOs were left vacant in the Kashmir division.
The officials had told KNO that the administrative department was collecting vigilance clearance of the candidates for their appointment as CEOs.
Meanwhile, the government order reads that the look after charges of CEOs have been given in the interest of administration and "in view of the administrative exigencies."
"It is hereby ordered that the Principals shall look after the post of Chief Education Officers and equivalent indicated against each till these posts are filled up on regular basis," the order reads.
As per the order, Principal Higher Secondary School (HSS) Halmathpora Ali Mohammad has been assigned the look after charges of CEO Bandipora.
Principal HSS Khawas, Chaman Lal Shamra has been assigned the charge of CEO Baramulla.
Sushma Koul has been assigned the charge of CEO Pulwama while Vinod Kumar Jad has been assigned the charge of CEO Srinagar and Ramesh K Hakim has been assigned charge of CEO Anantnag.
As per the order, Ram Paul Sharma has been assigned the look after charge of Principal District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Kulgam.
The government order reads that the officers’ assigned look after charge shall not be entitled to charge allowance.
"The arrangement is purely temporary and shall not confer any right upon the officers to claim seniority, placement, promotion or regularization which shall be strictly made as per the rules and in order of seniority and availability of vacancy," the government order reads.
The order reads that the arrangement will be without any prejudice to the outcome of writ petitions, if any, pending consideration before the Courts of competent jurisdiction.
"It is further ordered that the officers shall exercise DDO Powers in addition to the administrative powers," the order reads—(KNO)
