Care Your Eyes" Marathon Walk Taken Out In Pahalgam



A marathon walk was taken out for about 3Kms starting from Pahalgam Convention Centre with slogan of "Care Your Eyes" on the eve of ongoing 12th Annual Conference of Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India (ACOIN 2022). 


The marathon walk started at 6.30 a.m. and was lead by Principal GMC Anantnag and President ACOIN, Dr (Prof) Syed Tariq Qureshi along with Secretary ACOIN, Dr Swapan Samanta along with many international and national delegates and Faculty members, Consultants, Medical and Dental Surgeons and MBBS Students of Govt Medical College and Associated Hospitals Anantnag.

The idea behind marathon walk was to make people aware about the ways to save and care for your eyes and vision at large, the organizers said. One must follow many things to care for his/her eyes like avoiding frequent rubbing of eyes and one must practice frequent hand washing to keep germs at bay and one protect his/her eyes from the excessive sunlight.

“One must keep himself properly hydrated. Smoking must be avoided. Eat a balanced diet and keep proper screen/ monitor distance and room lighting must be adequate but not excessive,” they saod, adding, “Rule of 20-20-20 must be followed apart from adequate sleep. One must definitely wear the appropriate eye safety gear for different activities.”

Meanwhile, 12th Annual National Conference of Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India (ACOIN) which was being held at Pahalgam Convention Centre for last 3 days concluded successfully. 

Many reputed international Ophthalmologists from Sri-Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan etc along with many National and Native Ophthalmologists of India participated and enthralled the budding Ophthalmologists and other doctors about the latest updates and newest techniques used all over the world for management of Eye And associated diseases. “Such academic feasts are necessary to keep pace with rest of the World in ever upgrading medical field.”

Principal GMCA, Dr (Prof) Qureshi thanked all the delegates, organisers, volunteers and media fraternity for making the event successful and said that Govt Medical College Anantnag will continue to hold such academic feasts on regular basis to keep pace with rest of the world. (GNS)
