Locals demand intervention of LG
The residents of Krachipathri in Hirpora hamlet of south Kashmir’s Shopian district are up in arms against the authorities as they have failed in providing drinking water and road connectivity to the area in last 70 years.
The residents living around 2.5 kilometres from historical Mughal road have alleged that they have been left alone by the administration as no basic facilities are being provided to the residents.
Locals told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that even in 21st century they are without basic amenities as since last 60 years politicians visited the village to get votes only and no developmental work is being done on ground.
They said that there is no proper connectivity to the area due to which they are suffering and whenever there is any patient they have carry him on cart for 2.5 kilometres so that he can be taken to hospital.
Mukhtar Ahmad, a local resident said that they are living a miserable life as no one comes to their rescue.
We have to use horses to carry goods and essential items from Mughal road and when horses aren't available we have to carry ration and other things on our back, he said.
“Our village has been neglected on the developmental front as it lacks proper road connectivity and proper potable drinking water supply,” he said.
Locals alleged that they are treated like animals as no attention is being provided towards our village despite repeated visits to the offices of concerned authorities.
We are getting scheduled power supply and that is only facility we have in our village, said Ghulam Mohidin, a local resident.
He said that in winter, it take us weeks together to clear a footpath to reach to Mughal road in order to bring essential items.
Locals said that they have brought these issues to the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
We were used for political gains only and on ground all promises made with us proved hoax, they said.
They requested LG Manoj Sinha to kindly intervene in this regard and direct concerned authorities to provide us facilities so that they can heave a sigh of relief—(KNO)
