Binding bonds of communal harmony to reduce number of heart attacks: Son of Soil Dr Upendra starts heart centre for needy in Pulwama



Without local support, launching dream project wasn't possible: Dr Upendra


Renowned Cardiologist Dr Upendra Kaul belonging to Hawal village in Rajpora Tehsil of South Kashmir's Pulwama district has opened up a heart centre in his native village to help needy people in the area.

Dr Kaul's family was living in Hawal village of Pulwama before they shifted to Delhi. There was just one family among the 44 families of the village who shifted outside Kashmir in 90's.

But now, starting up of heart centre by Dr Upendra kaul is winning hearts of muslim population of the area. Dr Upendra Kaul while talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that they have opened up a centre at Hawal village where he will himself spent a day every week to check patients in OPD.

“The team of doctors are being trained besides that all equipment and machinery required to treat patients suffering from cardiac issues, hypertension and diabetes are being installed and in around next 15 days centre will be functional,” he said. “We will have an ambulance available at the centre for critical patients besides that we will be giving generic medicine to patients which are available at very cheaper rates.”

The state-of-art Prasad Joo Khan Heart Centre for poor and needy patients, named after Koul’s grandfather will cater the patients of south Kashmir districts besides patients of other districts.

Son of the soil Padma Shri Dr. Kaul further said that launching this dream project wasn't possible without the active support of muslim population.

Locals said that this centre not only will be able to treat the patients but it will help to make the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood very strong.

“This centre will not only help reduce heart attacks but it will bind the hearts of Muslims and Kashmiri Pandits further that have seen many ups and downs in the past 30 years,” said Ab Rashid, a local resident of Hawal—(KNO)
