Asks parents, civil society members to advise youth not to venture around nallahs and irrigation storage tanks
Kupwara, Jul 10 (GNS): Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir has expressed his grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Shahid Amin Beigh son of Mohammad Amin Beigh, who drowned to death while taking bath in a pond at Punzwa Vilgam area of the frontier district.
"Soon the news about drowning of Shahid spread, the District Administration, shifted quickly despite the fact that people were busy with celebration of Eid-ul-Adha and reached the spot", the top district officer said.
The District Administration, he said, pressed Officers/officials of Revenue, Irrigation & Flood Control Department and SDRF teams into service with support of local police and personnel of 7 Sector RR and made all possible efforts to fish out the body.
"The administration also utilized the services of one Diver, namely Gh Mohiudin Dar of Waskura Handwara and fished out the dead body of the deceased Shahid Amin Beigh", he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has reiterated its appeal asking the parents not to allow their wards to bath in open water bodies. He has also appealed Civil Society Members of Kupwara district to support the awareness campaign of District Administration, already started in the district.
The DC remarked that the administration has repeatedly appealed parents through different communication methods to contain venturing/open bathing at vulnerable spots of nallahs and irrigation storage tanks.
Khalid Jahangir in the meantime appreciated the role of Diver, Ghulam Mohidin Dar and SDRF team 'for their tireless efforts to fish out the body of Shahid Amin Beigh within the shortest possible time' and has announced that Dar and SDRF team will be felicitated on the eve of ensuing Independence Day.
