CEO Kupwara Passes Strict Directions for Sensitization of Students Against Swimming/Bathing in Water Bodies

Srinagar, Jul 3 (GNS): In wake of increase in drowning incidents amid soaring temperatures, Chief Education Officer Kupwara on Sunday directed for sensitization of school-going children against swimming/bathing in water bodies.

“It has been observed that due to rise in day temperature youngsters are taking to bathing/swimming in water bodies like ponds, fish farms, irrigation tanks and nallahs, etc. which has given rise to the cases of drowning. As such all the Principals, ZEOs, Headmasters and other HoIs are out under strict instructions to sensitise students against swimming in water bodies on a daily basis”, CEO Kupwara Abdul Hamid Fani directed as per GNS.

“In these days of summer vacations, the children will be tempted more to go to the water bodies and accidents may increase even more. Therefore, the HoIs and teachers, being responsible citizens, should put in every effort to stop children from this dangerous practice in their localities and also sensitise the general public of the consequences of the same”, he further said.

Worth to mention here, two boys died in separate incidents of drowning in Qaziabad of Anantnag and Sopore of Baramulla on Sunday. (GNS)
